Repetitive actions of check-ins, decomposing, adjusting and recomposing, occur here in care-time with the Worms and the artist. Response-ability is an evolving investigation into discovering what insights can emerge from artistic collaborations with Worms. Working with Worms, the artist has come to understand care and time to be synonymous. Looking to alternative futures – potential-times – this work is entangled with a multi-species response-ability.

Vermi-decomposition is created with sym-poiesis, the Worms have tunnelled and eaten away at this cloth. This fabric holds its agency through the Worm-enacted (de)composition. Annelida wayfaring map is a representation print of Worms tunnels and walking paths. Grass papyrus (mimesis) reflects a new stage in the work, the artist mimicking the Worms (de)composition methods, breaks down and reconstructs grass-papyrus into new forms. Together these pieces invite the viewer to consider the slow, laborious processes of nature and encounter a place to experience hopefulness and fun with nature’s unseen creatures and creators.
