Hana Alison is a recent graduate of Fine Art honours at RMIT and works within printmaking and sculpture. Through her work, Alison aims to understand the relationships between humans, nature, and species, seeking to draw out the complexities of our interconnected world to articulate possibilities for alternative futures.

A background in printmaking has led her sculptural work to be heavily informed by the sensitivities of paper’s texture, transparency and fragility. Alison has often worked with organic matters, such as vegetables, fruit and grass to create organic materials to print and sculpt from. These works align themselves with ecofeminist care methods and seek to inspire an attunement to nature's self-sufficiency and to appreciate the beauty and care of the world around us. Recently, Alison’s work has considered a multi-species dimension, where her interdisciplinary practice enacts sym-poiesis (symbiotically creating) through collaboration and responses to Earthworm’s decompositions.

As she continues to refine her work, informed by research in post-humanistic theories, Alison investigates how an awareness of our social and political milieu can deepen our collective emotional intelligence in our increasingly interconnected world.
